The Industrial Inside Sales/Customer Service Representative will be responsible for selling corporate products to business and industrial clients via telephone and internet. This role involves maintaining customer accounts and managing daily activities to ensure customer satisfaction. Key tasks include extensive phone and internet communication with customers and vendors; sourcing custom, non-standard, value-added solutions; entering sales and purchase orders into the system; and managing part numbers and contract files.


Essential Functions
Sell industrial hose and gasket products and maintain customer accounts
Take orders by phone and online
Enter orders and product quotes into the computer system
Highlight product features, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales orders
Estimate delivery dates based on production, delivery schedules, and inventory
Prepare reports of business transactions in the company database
Collaborate with account managers to keep account activities current
Investigate and resolve customer delivery issues
Perform other duties as assigned


Experience, Education and Skills
Minimum 5 years of related customer service experience and/or training; or Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment using Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel

Job Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for managing the entire Purchase Order process, from placement through to goods and invoice receipt. This role ensures the smooth execution of purchase orders while addressing any discrepancies related to invoices or goods receipt.

Scope of Responsibility

The Buyer plans and finalizes purchase order details and delivery schedules in alignment with customer expectations and company sales plans. Building and maintaining strong vendor relationships is essential to guarantee a continuous supply of critical materials and services. The Buyer regularly assesses vendor performance and capabilities to ensure compliance with company standards.

Key responsibilities include the timely and accurate issuance of purchase orders, ensuring suppliers meet on-time delivery requirements—purchase orders for all non-disputed line items must be issued within 48 hours. The Buyer negotiates with suppliers to secure the best value, balancing quality, delivery, and cost, including managing any specific contractual terms or flow-down requirements.

Supporting service centers during customer quotation stages is critical to securing competitive pricing and delivery terms. The Buyer also manages new supplier requests and changes through the MDG-Supplier process to support business unit operations.

Maintaining accurate ERP data related to supplier and item information is another important task. The Buyer addresses any pricing or quantity discrepancies that could affect invoice payments or goods receipt processes. Regular review of stock levels ensures optimal inventory is maintained on-site.

Additional duties include operating in full compliance with all Flowserve policies and procedures relevant to the role. The Buyer is also responsible for managing site Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities and audits, ensuring adherence to SHEA programs and Flowserve standards.

Preferred Competencies and Skills

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in supply chain management
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in project management
  • In-depth knowledge of the regional supply base for assigned categories
  • Comprehensive understanding of purchasing functions including negotiation, supplier evaluation and development, supplier quality, and logistics
  • Ability to implement technical and quality requirements at the purchasing level
  • Fluency in English
